Discovered conflict between Trend Micro Internet Security
PC-Cillin and Malwarebytes Antimalware!
It has recently come to our attention that Trend Micro Internet Security and Malwarebytes Antimalware are not officially compatible with each other. Many have found Trend Micro's and many other antivirus' malware protection to be lacking. Malwarebytes Antimalware is the solution to this with extremely comprehensive protection against all forms of malware threats. The specific issue with Trend Micro Internet Security and Malwarebytes Antimalware is that, while Malwarebytes is not an antivirus, both pieces of software still attempt to reserve some of the same system files. This is a common issue with having more than one antivirus installed but is atypical of a single antivirus and single antimalware/antispyware. The good news is there is a solution! People experiencing this issue will experience a lock-up of Windows at boot for around 10-15 minutes and then regain some functionality. 1) After functionality is regained, open up your Trend Micro console. 2) Under Virus and Spyware protection turn off Protection against spyware and Prevent unauthorized changes. 3) Under Internet and Email control turn off Protection against web threats. 4) Restart your computer and confirm that you do not experience a lock-up. If you contact Trend Micro technical support, they will not offer this as a solution because it disables some functions of their software. This is not an issue though as the functions under Trend Micro that you are disabling are taken care of through Malwarebytes Antimalware so you are not exposing yourself to risk.
